This is my Dad as a baby.  Note the black velvet ribbon around his neck.  That was for teething.  He had a 9 month old brother before him that died of "dentitis".  I found this out several years ago on Ancestry.com.  Grandma lived with until she died when I was 11 but she never mentioned this.  I guess she was extra careful with my Dad as he was teething.  I still wonder what dentitis was.
